Born on July 8, 2000, in Norfolk, Virginia, Sean Ball is an interdisciplinary artist currently based in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and Film in 2024. His work focuses on exploring and expressing various aspects of his life. His documentary film The Act of Killing Essay won the Research (sub-category) award at the Documentaries Without Borders Film Festival held in 2022. His narrative film Free Your Mind was screened at the Institute of Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University (ICA) in May 2024 and was officially selected within the Student Short category at the SHORT to the Point (STTP) International Film Festival in 2024. He is currently working on the first part of his photo series My Skin & I, which focuses on visually expressing his ongoing struggle with his skin and how severe acne from a young age and other skin conditions have drastically altered his body and his perception of it. Alongside working on My Skin & I, he is also working on further developing his other photo series, Felt Alive For A Moment, a visual diary that focuses on capturing and highlighting the youth who transiently sought to free themselves from their lives for an ephemeral moment as they exhibit themselves freely amongst each other.
